Rooney is an Australian art magazine that seeks to find new ways to discuss, question and explore contemporary life. Named after the editor’s office dog, Rooney—a steady companion that reminds us of the importance of finding moments of respite, reflection and freedom in this changing world. Symbolically, the publication seeks to represent an offer of generosity on two levels: it will be free for the reader, and hopes to display and encourage appreciation for creativity, imparting its enduring importance in these current times.

Rooney acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We particularly acknowledge the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation, upon whose land Rooney largely operates. We recognise the important connection of First Peoples to land, water and community, and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
